Ancaster Community Food Drive
2017
What a celebration of community! Thank you Ancaster for responding so generously with hundreds of volunteers canvassing the community on Saturday, March 4, 2017, collecting a record breaking total of 102,500 lbs of food in support of the community service and food bank agencies serving the people of Hamilton.
To all the residents of Ancaster, our schools, service clubs, various faith communities and businesses, including a growing number of volunteers from across Hamilton and area, we extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for the overwhelming support and generosity that has been given to our food drive for the past quarter century. For 25 years, the community has responded to the call of our neighbours to help them feed their families through the difficult and challenging times in their lives. Since our humble beginning 25 years ago, the community of Ancaster has responded to this call of service to others by donating a total of 1,543,500 lbs of food to the food bank agencies, at a critical time in mid winter, when their food supplies have and continue to be critically low.
To our local, provincial and federal government elected representatives and dignitaries, your participation, continued support and promotion of this annual community event over these many years is most appreciated. To the Ancaster Fairgrounds, our sincere thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to our organizing Committee for use of the meeting facilities and for welcoming the entire community to the new home of the Annual Ancaster Community Food Drive. The move to a new location added to the excitement and anticipation of our 25th anniversary food drive and we were blessed with a remarkable celebration of community.
The food donations have been delivered to the agencies to replenish their supplies and our communities’ generous spirit is already having an impact on hundreds of families throughout our city.
We invite you to continue the support of our community service agencies throughout the entire year and we appreciate and acknowledge the passion and commitment their staff bring to this mission of service each and every day.
Ancaster is a remarkable community!
